Dividend Income Update June 2020

The beginning of every month is exciting for all dividend income investors as we look back at the previous month and see how much passive dividend income our portfolios generated. No doubt, these are the best posts to write and read online as it only provides further proof that dividend investing can work over time and that anyone can create an ever growing passive income stream. Looking back at my June totals I see that my year over year progress is moving at a nice clip. Now that half of 2020 is in the books my annual dividend income picture is looking a lot clearer. Dividends don’t lie. It’s real cash being returned to investors. With patience and consistency these results and better can be achieved. I’m excited to see what the second half of 2020 will bring. All I know for certain is that the market will definitely be higher, lower or flat come New Year’s Eve! In other words, I’ll continue with my monthly buys and slowly build up my passive income stream share by individual share and let the experts worry about what might happen.

Are any of these dividend stocks in your portfolio too? How was your June dividend income? Please let me know below.

Disclosure: Long all above

    • Hi MDD,

Thanks for your comment. That BP is a monster. It came from my wife many years ago and ideally I would like to trim the position but not at current levels. While it’s nice seeing such a hefty sum come in from a single position it does highlight a lack of diversity.

    • Hi Divcome,

Curious about second half of 2020 too. We’ll see. Just trying to figure out where to deploy cash during these crazy times and navigate my dividend cuts. I’m still pushing through making monthly buys and we’ll see…

  1. Keith – wow, what a fantastic dividend income result. More than doubling Year over Year. Just awesome, congrats, keep it up your work, very inspiring.
Glad to see we are fellow shareholders in Unilever, Microsoft, PepsiCo, 3M.

    • Hi MFS,

Always happy to know I share solid names with other in the DGI space. I really like the cash rich companies like MSFT and APPL going forward along with other higher yielding names like MO, T, LYB, SO and ED.

  2. DHut,

Very nice YoY! What happened with BP (shift to annual, special payout, or something else)? I feel like getting a 1k dividend from 1 position is a new life goal that I only just found out about.

    Congrats,
    Gremlin

    • Hi DG,

That BP dividend was “inherited” from my wife many years ago. She was also into DGI and had a ton invested in BP. Ideally, I’d like to trim that position but not at current prices. For now just trying to navigate all the other dividend cuts we’re experiencing like WFC, YUMC, KTB, older GE and KHC, BP, Well, VTR and the like. Still, overall cash keeps coming in and that’s what counts.

    • Hi MR,

Thank you for comment and continued support. I have been going the DGI route for over a decade and these days trying to navigate all those dividend cuts. 2020 has been a tough year for all.

    • Hi DD,

So far so good in 2020. Trying to navigate all the nonsense in the world but still making strides despite several cuts. Oh well… These are the times that test those who are truly into DGI.

    • Hi OLF,

Just keep investing and don’t get shaken out of the market during those drops and your passive income will slowly build up over time. DGI is a marathon not a sprint.
